>>>It's clear CBS-FM is looking for personalities with appeal to a younger generation than those who worked at the station twenty years ago. They tipped their programming hats to the past by bringing Dan Taylor and Bob Shannon back (both of whom are younger) but moving forward from here they are looking for personalities known to younger listeners.<<<
This is the reason I think that Scott Shannon would be a welcome addition, if he ever becomes available (probably unlikely in the near future). He would hit the target demographics almost perfectly, plus he would have the added benefit of being familiar to legions of morning show listeners, even those who are younger than the target demographics.
That said, I think a CBS-FM show with Shannon would have to be light years away from Scott & Todd. I think you could have him solo, or part of an ensemble (probably the more logical choice). I think that show is too slow paced and sometimes too goofy for the CBS-FM audience. I think a modified morning zoo format might work. Obviously, it would have to be a much more adult and mature show than Z100's current morning show, but some wackiness here and there would be fine. That probably wouldn't please a lot of people on this message board, but I'd love to see it (nothing against Dan Taylor).
In fact, I think Scott Shannon would do better on a CBS-FM morning drive than he's doing on WPLJ now. The only way this would probably ever happen would be if WPLJ ever does anything to shake up their ratings or format and Shannon leaves (or is fired). I am also not sure if his True Oldies Channel would conflict at all, given the similar music (though since the True Oldies Channel isn't on in NYC, it probably wouldn't matter).
