I always enjoyed listening to Jim Nettleton. While his stint in New York was relatively brief (WABC and WPIX), I had the opportinity to hear him regularly on WCAU-FM (now WOGL) in Philly in the mid 70's, where he was the PD and did afternoon drive.

Somewhat reminiscent of the CBS-FM flip to Jack two years ago, I believe it was 1976 when WCAU-FM flipped from oldies to disco.

Jim is a consummate professional. He always sounds upbeat and has something interesting to say. He currently does PM drive on an internet radio station that he launched. "Radio Philly Style" has a late 50's/early 60's playlist with many songs that you haven't heard in a long time.

I don't know if anyone can confirm this but I heard that Jim was offered the evening shift at WABC when Brucie went to WNBC. My understanding is that Jim turned it down because he didn't want to commute from Philly or move to New York. Then George Michael was hired.

I'm betting tonight's Radio Great will be live but not necessarily a former CBS-FM personality.
