Evan - you said:
>>>"Right after the TOH ID, they went right into The Letter by the Boxtops. After that song, I hear a "Randy Davis" jingle (and THAT was how we learned who the Radio Great would be), and then we go right into another song. And then it's two or three more songs before Randy actually starts talking."<<<
>>>"If they are going to keep the Great's identity a surprise until show time (a wonderful and fun idea) then they should have an MC (Rick Stacy?) stick around for a few minutes and introduce him with some fanfare, and a brief bio, and make it more fun and suspenseful."<<<
Indeed - PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING!!
Perhaps CBS-FM's production folks can put something together with Ziggy as a generic way to announce / kick off / intro the Radio Great at the TOH.
The way Randy Davis came on gave the appearance of just another regular show / shift going on. Unless you already knew it was time for the start of the Radio Great show, you would never know from the way it sounded / was presented.
Even Cousin Brucie mentioned something to that effect when he was a guest on Saturday Night Oldies last year. No matter how famous you are, a proper introduction is always in order...
