Unlike alot of people on the board, I thought the Wolfman was a good choice for the Radio Greats show last week. As I said in my posts then, I thought it was a pretty bold move to run a show like that and the Wolfman was an excellent choice, and I applaud the station for having the kahones to do it. Whether it was a success or not, AT LEAST they took the chance. Something not done by many in commercial radio any longer. However, I do see how some members of the audience would be disappointed. Like many others, I had the impression that it would also be someone like Brucie or Dan Ingram, BUT I wasn't disappointed. That said, I didn't remember the show enough to know that it would be returning this week. Another thought I have is how are they going to keep this alive without running out of 'radio greats'? I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say that I guess you never know. So far the station has been doing a great job of throwing items in their programming that are keeping it fun and interesting. But then again how many of these past DJs are they going to be able to get to do the show, and after that are they just going to run old airchecks of Scottso and others that have gone to the big mic in the sky?
Joseph M, I also think the AT40 rebroadcasts are great on XM. Those are really, really fun. I'm a Sirius subscriber, but I've heard alot of those shows when I'm with a friend who is an XM susbscriber. I would love to hear them on CBS-FM. Not sure how well it would fit within the format, but it would be cool. The other issue is that if they did hypothetically add that show, they'd have to cut the Top 20 Countdown with Jeff Mazie. It would just be redundant to have both.
