Randy Davis may not be a New York radio LEGEND, but I think he certainly qualifies as a New York radio GREAT. The response to the opening of the phone lines last night certainly seems to bear that out, at least in the minds of many current CBS-FM listeners both on and off this board. (I frequently remember that we are merely a small microcosm of the total listeners of this station, and our opinions don't necessarily match up with those of the general public, probably because of our history with this station and passion for all things radio! We're a "special" segment of the audience.) That said, I hope Brian & co. continue to mix things up with the Sunday night program. As many on this board have pointed out, there really aren't 52 New York Radio Greats to make a live jock every week viable, even if some make return appearances. I'd be more than happy with a mix of the classic airchecks (a la last week's Wolfman Jack show or our much-loved WABC Rewound) and live jocks (such as this week's very successful -- IMHO! -- return of Randy Davis to the 101.1 airwaves). That should keep most everybody happy, no? I do sincerely hope all of the criticism here doesn't deter Brian Thomas & co. from turning this into a much-anticipated weekly program. We've seen two approaches so far, and both seem to have their proponents and opponents; that's all part of the fun!
