In my opinion, WCBS-FM should lay down the rules; the time period, what type of music is disqualified, etc. I assume some classics like Earth Angel and In the Still of the Night would be disqualified because they do not represent the current sound of the station. But, where does one draw the line? Would early Elvis, Little Richard or Chuck Berry hits (which they have played) count? What about songs by artists which are an outgrowth of doo wop--latter Dion and the Belmonts, early 4 Seasons? Might some of these songs be in but weighted downward? What about 60's pop which hasn't gotten much play e.g. Dionne Warwick or Petula Clark?
Again, the qualification and rules should be stated up front so we are not "wasting" our votes.
