"In the Still Of the Night" was not a huge hit on the pop charts, but it made it up to Number 4 on Billboard's R&B charts. So it was one of the biggest R&B hits of 1956. And it was played heavily by Alan Freed and the other R&B DJs in New York at the time (including Hal Jackson and Dr. Jive).
