I was watching the TV coverage during most of the midday hours...but I've just checked on what the local stations here in the northwest Jersey and surrounding areas. As of about 3PM, most of the stations on the dial are carrying national news feeds--either radio networks or TV simulcasts. This is true of both commercial and non-commercial stations. Some of them are cutting back to the local studio for closings and related information.

Only two stations in the area seem to be producing their own coverage: WSUS, the Clear Channel (former Nassau) station in Franklin which has long has a strong news image, and WRNJ, a locally owned AM in Hackettstown which also has a full-service history. The WSUS coverage is being simulcast on WHCY (the CHR station). Oddly, though, WNNJ-AM and FM, which are in the same building as WHCY, are both doing regular music programming.

I'm listening to the WSUS coverage at the moment, which is being anchored by PD/afternoon jock Vince Thomas (a former colleague of mine) and they appear to be doing a good job under obviously difficult circumstances.
