I think it is very possible to use radio to do something like this...but not on the fly. Trying to do live coverage that would make sense to an audience that young would probably not work. It's probably correct that they (and most of the kid-targeted TV networks) have kept up regular programming.

But with the right personnel, they could certainly put together a program soon that would help kids to make sense of what is going on. Linda Ellerbee has done similar programming on Nickelodeon television in the past.
