I'd say they made the right decision to stay with music. It was a respite from the unrelenting horror of yesterday.
When Kennedy was killed many stations went to classical music because they did not have network or large news staff resources (here in Norfolk and I imagine other medium and small markets). It also helped to soothe a public crazed with news of the events of that day.
What could WQXR do that wasn't already being done by dozens of outlets, radio and tv?
