Allen, do you really feel every radio station needs to cover the same story? Yes, of course it's major news. But it's been covered more than adequately. And there is (or so they say) an emergency alert system should the gov't feel the need to utilize it.
Certainly your position can't be that the public has not been inadequately informed. It has been in every manner including headline type news & news talk.
QXR - Years ago (maybe 30?) it broadcast NY Times news bulletins on the hour (Al Grope announced), had a 45 minute news show at 6 PM and had Times reporters & editorial board members read reports & editorials on the 6 & 11 PM broadcasts. Since then it's gone to being basically a light classical FM with virtually no emphasis on news.
QEW - why not give the young kids respite from doom & gloom?
The news being reported is repeated endlessly. One can keep up with developments and still listen to some music on the air.
I can do so via net streaming. Broadcast radio listeners should be able to do likewise.
I think LTW should have broadcast appropriate music.
