I'm not debating that point. I'm not even suggesting he was a bad PD. I'm only questioning Vince's assertion that he is some kind of legend. I just don't see that.

Now who is reaching. Who was being quoted in the paper a couple of months ago as saying things like hearing "Baby Love" one more time wasn't so bad? Either he really believed some of the changes that even you acknowledge were poor choices or he chose to stay and pretend he believed in them. Either way, that's not the stuff I think of as "legendary".

Yes, he was at the helm for a long time and deserves credit for it. As far as "damning him with faint praise", I'm only responding to Vince Santarelli's comments in "Apple Bites". I don't think he's a Sklar/Meyer type of legend. Longevity isn't the only measurement of that kind of success.
