John Franklin Causier, 82, of Pinehurst, North Carolina, formerly of Pearl River, NY died Thursday, August 5, at his residence. Mr. Causier was born on November 25, 1921 in West Palm Beach, FL of the late Florence Hoult Causier and William Causier. He served in the US Army Air Corps and was stationed in Iwo Jima and the Philippines during World War II. John was a 1947 graduate of Stetson University in Deland, Florida, and also attended Columbia University in New York, NY. He retired in 1986 after a 27-year career with ABC Radio & Television. He was a member of AFTRA and SAG. An avid golfer, he retired to Pinehurst with his wife in 1987. John played golf regularly until his illness.
He was a member of the Mello-Larks singing group for many years. He also directed and appeared in numerous productions at the Sandhills Little Theatre. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sara Causier, daughters Ellen Carver and husband Howard of Charlotte, NC; Josephine O’Hare and husband John of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Lindsay Carver of Charlotte, Katherine O’Hare of Virginia Beach, William O’Hare and Michael O’Hare of Portland, OR, many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Judi Causier, of Gainesville, Florida, who nursed him through his last days.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, August 14, at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst (35 Parker Lane, Pinehurst, NC 28374, 910-235-0366). In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Health Hospice or Given Memorial Library, both in Pinehurst.
