On a related topic, it is interesting to note how each of the original major networks had an announcing style unique to it that helped them communicate their distinctive images. ABC was always urgent and energetic, NBC was formal and proper, and CBS, while also formal, was more laid back and relaxed. Anyone else here notice this over the years?
