Chuck was a great person and an incredibly talented air personality. That smile we all heard in his voice was on his face when you met him. There was nothing phony about him and he validated the very reason so many of us were captured by those great years of Musicradio WABC.

Chuck was a piece of that radio history so many of us grew up with and that we continue to celebrate today. Time passes and we've all grown older. Yet we think of Chuck as frozen in time. We remember listening to him at 11:30 after the lights went out on a school night or on Sunday morning when the music finally began to play on WABC. We think of him smiling behind that microphone and sounding so smooth and natural. It's like we just heard him this morning.

And yet, now he's gone. It just doesn't seem possible.

Godspeed Chuck Leonard. Thanks for being more to us than you ever imagined you could be. Thanks for helping to make radio more than a jukebox and for being a positive personality in the lives of millions. It was a moment in time--like capturing lightening in a bottle. We'll not forget you and know that you're cueing the engineer from above with a smile on your face and twinkle in your eye.
