My God. I'm shocked. Chuck was a major, major part of our growing up years. How many of us listened to Chuck with the transistor under the pillow? I'm looking at my WABC poster now and of the eight All-Americans from that day in early 1969, four are gone - Bob-A-Loo, Charlie Greer, Roby Yonge and now Chuck.
Let us not forget that Chuck also did a show on WABC FM on Saturday nights back before the AOR days. It was called "The Swingin' People" and it was on from 8 to 9 PM, right after Bob-A-Loo's "Some Trust In Chariots" and right before "The 'Other' Dan Ingram Show." He used to sign off that show with the following, "If you ever get to the end of your rope, just sway to and fro, and you, too, can be one of the swining' people.
RIP Chuck. You'll always be one of the great ones.
