We all know that Chuck Leonard sounded great on the air. But his warmth extended much farther. He was the kind of guy who would always take my phone calls while he was busy doing a show on the largest radio station in America; who would let me visit him in the studio and ask endless questions about WABC and the radio business; and all that was back when I was just a high school kid.
We kept in touch loosely after his WABC years, and I was fortunate enough to be with him and Glenn Morgan in the studio for the 2001 WABC "Rewound" talk show. Anyone who listened to what he had to say on that occasion can tell that he was a bright, funny, kind and generous guy. He will be missed, both on the air and off.
