I first met Chuck back in 1977 at WABC. He was a gracious host to me and a friend of mine, just a couple of college radio dj's. I was in awe watching him work. And, he was funnier off the air than on. He treated us like old friends from the moment he met us at the elevator on the 8th Floor at 1330 Ave of Americas.
I saw him again after many years, oddly enough, it was another elevator meeting. This time, just down the street from the old ABC Studios. It was in the Elevators at Sirius. This time, I was his colleague. I never got used to that. I'd chat with him whenever I saw him there. Ya know...When you are standing next to someone that you admire like that, its so hard to be natural around them, but Chuck had a way of easing that feeling.
What can I say....This is sad...Rest in Peace....You are missed already.
