While I share in remembering Chuck Leonard, I must admit to feeling a little awkward, "just a listener",who never met the man in person, putting my thoughts next to those of his friends and collegues. But I guess that's what it's all about, isn't it? You'd listen to him and feel like you were listening to a friend, and whatever he was getting away with, he was letting you in on it. They always talk about a great announcer having a "smile in his voice". Peolpe like Chuck Leonard and Ron Lundy always sound like an ear to ear grin to me.

Talk about impact. Earlier today, in my car, I picked up WQSR in Baltimore (A fluke, because here in south Jersey, I'm a couple of hours away). Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the announcer remembering Chuck. He spoke of listening to him in his Baltimore days, and proceeded to dedicate "American Pie" to his memory. "A long, long, time ago..."

Allow me one more memory. Many people remember in the late 60's, after WINS and WMGM were long gone,it was down to WMCA and WABC; then at 11:00, between Gary Stevens and Dean Anthony, WMCA would run a two hour talk show. Well, if you're out in the '63 Chevy Wagon with the AM radio, even if you weren't a WABC fan, you became a Chuck fan real quick. And while some other fans have mentioned going to sleep with Chuck under their pillows, let's remember some of us may have been out in those Chevy's trying to get romantic with our young lady friends with Chuck in the background.

I'll always remember Chuck, The Right Rockin' Leonard!
