Drake formatics gave you something that was far from bloodless radio, whatever its critics said at the time; it was about personality with discipline, about being both tight and witty at the same time.

To give one example of a guy who exemplified the concept even if he's never worked with Bill Drake during his almost 50 year career, Dan Ingram would have thrived at KHJ, CKLW or KFRC, if he hadn't already helped invent the sound years earlier on KBOX, WIL and WABC. He really anticipated and helped create the kind of fast paced personality radio that Drake brought to the rest of the country later in the 60s.
