>>>If WJMK-HD2 and CBS-FM-HD2 in their current incarnations were both available in New York as HD1 stations, my understanding from your posts is that you would play the non-personality, jukebox CBS-FM-HD2 station in your office, in part because it had no personalities.<<<
First, I think it's important to point out there's a difference between Internet radio and over air radio. HD-2 (or whatever) doesn't count at this point because virtually no one has radios for it.
I would prefer WJMK if not for all the Chicago references. It's hard to explain to people that it's not really going to snow here... it's going to snow in Chicago (for example). That's why I think Internet radio is better off not having local elements. It's not a service that is only available in its local vicinity.
I would *far* prefer WCBS-FM's oldies Internet stream if it had live and local jocks. In that case, the local personality and references would all be relevent to me... and more importantly to those around me. While I'm a radio geek, the rest of the world isn't and trying to explain why I've got a Chicago station on several times a day isn't quite worth the effort! Not to mention all those who might be planning for a snow day in New York when it's actually Chicago that's getting six inches :) !
