The problem with the TV analogy is that there's an added component that strengthens the recognition of a personality. Television is a much more foreground medium, thus requiring more dynamic personalities. Because radio is obviously not a visual medium, people may be less interested in establishing a bond with the various announcers they hear. It doesn't matter if you know the name of the anchor on WINS. What matters is whether or not he gives you the information you want. It doesn't matter if you know the name of the jock on LTW or NEW, as long as he sounds friendly and plays your favorite song.
