One could also speculate that a trend toward "bio-mechanization" will ultimately marginalize the imperfect organic sound of a human voice into a sloppy annoyance, to an audience conditioned to the accoustically antiseptic, mathematically precise melody/harmony/rhythm of modern music.

Look at how young people nowadays (esp. guys) are almost always wired into some kind of network or digital device, even sprouting Borg-like cellphone earpieces with blinking LED's. On top of this, many are rejecting their natural individuality and adopting obsessive, artificial, machine-like precision in their appearance, with tattooed eyeliner, shaved heads, perfect skin, plucked eyebrows, and Terminator sunglasses. Then there's medical augmentation, everything from bluer-than-blue contact lenses to implants and tattoos. I think a lot of them are borderline OCD clean-freaks too, although they seem willing to pour almost any chemical into their bodies to achieve machine-like stamina, physiques, and complexions.

I can see why they wouldn't want a sloppy organic human voice to interfere with the laser-sharp perfection of their tunes. And goodness knows how they'd feel if the DJ were fat or had pimples! Heavens, they'd have to scrub themselves for hours just for listening.
