Who? K-Rock? And if so, its minisule audience isn't going to be enough to support RXP without it bringing a substantial number of new listeners into the format beyond that.
>>>The strategy I hear is one of attacking the repetition that's tight as a drum on both Q and K-Rock.<<<
No question. And from a promotional perspective, it always sounds good to say things like we're not another "corporate format". But from a programming point of view, it usually doesn't work. There's a reason radio stations are programmed the way they are... it works. No matter what listeners say, their *behavior* consistently supports listening to well defined music formats.
>>> it also seems that they're going to be willing to go deeper into the libraries of RHCP, Pumpkins, Pearl Jam et. al. to avoid the repetition hammer.<<<
Which usually drives more listeners off than it pulls in. Again... it sounds great to make the argument and listeners almost always *say* that's what they want. But saying and doing are usually not the same.
>>>There's a chance to capture that People Meter rock audience if RXP gives them something to listen for besides the same tunes that audience already has in their IPODS and Zunes.<<<
Sounds like the JACK argument...
>>> I don't agree with Allan's reading that WDHA is still doing a good job.<<<
Why not? Is it slipping in its target demo? Is the music mix off? (I'm not trying to be a wise-ass... I'd really like to know why you think this station could be a threat to DHA).
>>>I think XRP has a chance to win a broad enough audience to send K-Rock packing off into the sunset to another format of the month.<<<
I don't disagree. But it's not like K-Rock is doing so well that picking up its audience will make a difference.
>>> It's there for the grabbing.<<<
Not really... that's the problem.
