All points well taken IF advertisers don't believe that I and the likes of me (not just p-1's), am worth paying big ad dollars to reach. Also, forgive my lack of long term recall, but, with all the talk about what a bold move this is by Emmis, what was the last big time, full power, metropolitan area effort at a similar format? I am not talking about JACK (that was not a rock format!, or WLIR and its Long Island roots/perception. I cannot recall the last time a major player in the broadcasting business put a true rock formatted station on a high rest district frequency. Even WXRK's last incarnation -- which was, in any case, too heavily dependent on Howard and not is rock identity -- was an awful long time ago. For those of us who remember history, one can say this is a reincarnation of the PIX Penthouse.
