It's interesting to note three stations that took a really substantial jump--Z100, WBLS and WPAT-FM--as well as two others with pretty healthy gains, WSKQ and WCBS-FM. Most of them, except for CBS-FM (which we all know went at least some of the way "back to the future"), just kept doing what they do, and doing it well for their core audiences. Could that be the real key to success--knowing what your core wants, and just doing the best job you can of it, rather than getting fancy and playing around with your sound?
