CBS Radio President Worried About Disappearance of AM Radios

CBS is in the process of selling off some of its some of its smaller market radio stations.

In his blog about those sales and radio's loss of the next generation of listeners, former major market program director, now a USC professor, Jerry Del Colliano provides this quote from CBS Radio president Dan Mason:

"I haven't seen an AM radio in a hotel for a year...the first time I didn't see it, I didn't think about it much, but then it was 6-7 times."

Mason is worried about the entire disappearance of the AM band and he's right to worry. CBS has some big name, money pumping all news stations that are still on the AM band.

Del Colliano goes on to list eight or nine reasons why radio is in trouble, among them CEO denial. The column provides some interesting things for people in the business to think about and discuss. It is linked to below.....
