>>>Michael Savage was actually the first on the Conservative end of the talk show hosts around 2004 to state he is not Republican, he is instead a Conservative. All of a sudden Sean now says the same thing.<<<
Rush Limbaugh has actually been saying that for many years, far longer than 2004.
I listened to Sean Hannity's local WABC show extensively in the late 1990s and I really liked the show. As Allan said, I think Hannity handled New York issues well and he provided good commentary and guests. With the mayoral election coming up in 2009 and no shortage of local issues, I think such a show would be a huge benefit to WABC if it still existed.
I also remember that he used to have good reparte with Heather O'Rourke when she did the traffic. While something like this is a small factor, it does help display the host's personality and sense of humor. Of course, syndication doesn't allow a loose enough format for unstructed elements like that.
I think Sean Hannity's syndicated show is entertaining, but from a purely New York radio perspective, I agree that the non-syndicated show was a better fit for the local area.
