Corporate owners keep chasing younger listeners while the three stations that aim the oldest, that play music from the 70s and even 60s, have the most listeners.
Fresh makes fun of Lite, saying their music is old and tired. Yet Lite has nearly three times the audience. And all three stations are doing great in the 25-54 demo.
Makes you wonder what the NY dial would sound like if radio station owners were just a little more willing to try to sell older audiences to advertisers.
I recognize that younger listeners respond to advertising more than older ears. But I'm still not sure why 25-54 is the most sought-after demo while 55 year olds are worth absolutely nothing... like you fall off a cliff once you've left the 25-54 demo.
