'Americana' is meaningless. Like there are many 'South's, there are many Americas, along with many generations in each section. The current listeners might appreciate the word, but it's not the magnet to make new people curious which, say, 'country' or 'oldies' or 'jazz' would do.
As for 'AAA' ? Forget it. In my cab and limo voyages I've not had a single fare on a long trip who asked me if I could pop 'some of that neat Triple-A music' into the casette deck or CD player.
Come to think of it, I've never had a request like 'Ya got any of that Urban stuff?' nor ''We're in the mood to party to some 80's-based Hot A-C', nor have I heard 'Yo -- how about some of that beer-freak male 18-34 hair-band rubbish?', either.
It seems as though WFUV has poked, at least halfway, outside the box so rife with industry lingo.
