Maybe they chose to not re-apply for their jobs? Maybe WNYC was paying a pittance (not surprising).
Some may have chosen to retire, or move to another city -- change of scene/pace and all that jazz. Or maybe they didn't like the direction the new station is now taking.
As far as I'm concerned, WQXR has ceased to exist once they sign off 96 FM.
