Very sad news, Jim was a great DJ, very professional knew how to interact with the audience and the music.

A couple of quick notes on his career, after Dean Hunter left the overnight show on WHN in June of 71 Jim took over the shift for a brief time (about eight weeks). Jim did a great job, it was interesting to hear him work on the less restrictive WHN.

In retrospect 1969 seemed to be a bit of an off year for WABC. In the months prior to Jim's arrival two of the DJ's who had been at WABC from the start, Bobaloo and Charlie Greer, left
the station. Roby Yonge had been bounced from early afternoons to early evenings to weekends, with Chck Leonard not Roby being used as the primary relief jock. The overnight shift had been vacant since August with different Dj's with Leonard, Yonge and news personalities (Les Marshak and Jim Lonsbury) filling in. Jim's arrival seemed to begin a stabilizing process, he was very professional on the air being up to the challenge of handling the very difficult and demanding WABC format.
