While I can't pinpoint the exact year, I do think it is significant that Jim Nettleton was the only DJ on WCAU-FM,for a while, when it first started the oldies format.
As I recall, Nettleton provided a voice track that was used 24/7, or as close to that as you could in those days given the requirement to carry public affairs programs etc.
This was during the same period he was working weekends at WABC.
I remember thinking at the time, that he must have spent a day or two during the week in Philly doing all the recording.
I can't think of any other radio personality who was the only voice on a major market radio station, let alone an O&O all day, all week long.
And he was also working for two of the three big broadcast operators at the same time, ABC in New York, and CBS in Philly.
Naturally, no matter what day-part or day of the week, Nettleton always sounded great.
