I think most of understand that baseball is ultimately an entertainment product. The problem simply stated is this, John doesn't do play by play, John does a running dialogue of what he thinks about the happening on the field. This is plainly speaking ridiculous. I can give dozens of examples, let me leave you with just one, a few weeks ago, John is on the radio and calls the first pitch a ball several seconds later he drops in this little tidbit "well the umpire called it a strike but it was a ball"!!! Are you kidding me, this is play by play, shouldn't the game be the star of the broadcast.

In closing, someone posted a great suggestion, turn the sound down on the TV and listen to John do the game while you watch and get back to the rest of us.

Allowing John Sterling to continue in the role of play by play man for the premier team in baseball makes about as much sense as having Ted Baxter host Meet the Press.
