Tom McCarthy is a great guy and I think that the situation in 2006 got blown out of proportion a bit by certain people in the media.

Gary Cohen is a great broadcaster and he's been with the Mets a long time- I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

Nobody ever talks about what Marv Albert did to Howie Rose in 1994 with the Rangers in the radio booth- How Marv forced his way into having to call part of Game 7 on the radio after Howie had done it all year long.

I don't think Marv would've called the Matteau goal with nearly the same passion that Howie did.


I think the bigger issue is this rule that doesn't allow the local New York TV networks like SNY or YES or in the old days Sportschannel to air the games in addition to the national feed. That way fans could follow their team on the road to the championship with the broadcasters and analyists they watch all year.

But maybe that's just me the fan speaking and it doesn't make a whole lot of $$$ sense.
