Ari,

>>>Why? NY has 21 FM signals on the commercial side of the band that can be heard in the center of town. Philly has 22. This includes rimshots with a decent chance to be heard, including 92.7 in NY and 101.5 in Philly.<<<

>>>On the AM side, though, NY beats Philly by a bunch. NYC has 21 AM stations and Philly has 17.<<<

But of New York's 42 AM/FM stations and Philadelphia's 39 AM/FM stations, how many of them are major (Philly) and how many of them are suburban? I have always thought since NY is the number martket we would have more stations putting a signal through the NY Meto area, compared to Philadelphia which is ranked eighth. I was told by a late radio executive that there are about 110 stations in the NY Metro area.

Looking at the the CUME numbers for WCBS-FM,eventhough they're up to a 6.0 third straight book they finished 2nd behind WLTW whose at number one, CBS-FM's lost 200,000 listeners. This shows that the CUME doesn't always go up with the ratings.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy
