I have no inside knowledge of this situation, but IMHO, the smart move for WNYC would be to purchase 96.7 WCTZ from Cox and simulcast WQXR --its strong Fairfield, Westchester and northern Nassau and Queens signal will nicely fill in the gaps left by the now-smaller 105.9 signal. The three or four-million-dollar expenditure will pay off in strong coverage in an affluent, mostly suburban area -- and thus, more donations to keep classic music alive in the #1 market.
