It's no surprise that Shures are coming into wide use at their talk-format stations. They've been the most frequent choice for news booths and talk studios for a while, since they handle most voices well--response is good for picking up the spoken word.

We got rid of our Sennheisers a few years back and replaced them with Shures; makes the voices sound fuller, compared with the thinner sound we got from the Sennheisers. I've worked off and on with Shures since we installed them at WHEN in Syracuse in 1973 (they haven't changed a whole lot since). IMHO the only mike that makes a voice sound more natural and clear is the super-pricey Neumann condenser mike (which we had at WBEN in Buffalo, but I've never seen anywhere else but a music recording studio).
