With sadness, I relay to his many fans, the passing of "The Soul Server" Hank Spann. Hank who worked for many years at WWRL, "Super Sixteen," passed away today October 14, 2009 at 6:20PM eastern time in California. Hank was one of the most exciting air personalities I've ever worked with. He was so full of energy and creativity. He was truly a "Star." Many of the young Hip-Hop artists and club DJ's got their start by trying to emulate Hank. Of the original "Soul Brothers" or "The Dream Team" as Bob Law called us, there is only Jeffrey Troy, "Imhotep" Gary Byrd and myself left, but I know Hank is getting his on-air schedule assignment from Sonny Taylor and is joining Gerry Bledsoe, Frankie Crocker, and "The Dixie Drifter" Enoch Hawthorne Gregory up there in "Soul Heaven." Hank Spann just took "two steps to the rear" and "got out of here." He's "in the wind New York, Later."
