Kevin and Steve, the realty is, that most of the Soul stations; as they say, "back in the day," did not have the equipment to allow us to air-check on a regulsr basis. I was the archievist at WWRL, and as such, would record the guys for special projects like station promotional presentations or for submission to Billboard Magazine for their "Air Personality of The Year Award" for which Jeff Troy and I were both receipients. Several years ago; at the Shomberg Library in Harlem, Bob Law and I presented an audio tribute to the "Dream Team." Hank Spann was there, as were the late Mark Olds, the late Don "Early" Allen, Jeffrey Troy, Rocky G., I think Gary Bryd, and newspersons, George Flowers, Don Ross, Jane Tillman Irving, News Director Dick London and I think Roy Whitfield. Those air checks and tapes are all that survived the "Big 'RL," "Super Sixteen," "Great Entertainer" eras of WWRL. There is not enough to sustain a regular or weekly series like that presented by WABC.
