I know humor is objective, but Allan, you are way off-base on this one. Soupy's show was one of the best (and funniest things) things I ever heard on the radio.
I wish there was more ENTERTAINMENT on the radio today. Instead of the endless, mind numbing, issue-oriented talk on AM and wall-to-wall, devoid of personality music boxes (except for the seemingly endless commercial sets)on FM.
After I wrote that last sentence, I realized that most of the personality in many stations is now in the commercial sets. Pretty sad.
Soupy's show was designed to bridge the time slot between Imus and Stern. It did that exceptionally well. After Howard was fired, it held its own for a while, which was quite a feat considering that it was on AM.
Allan, just because YOU say it wasn't funny doesn't make it so. There are a lot of former listeners who will disagree.
