You're comparing apples to oranges. We very pleased with the midday numbers in the Spring and Summer of 1985. 25-54 was heading in the right direction until the disastrous decision to fire Stern. I have never thought that hiring Soupy was anything but a smart move. Now, hiring Jack Spector to do a hybrid music/sports talk show...now that was a mistake. And not Jack's fault in any way. Jack was a true pro and tried to make it work, but I should never have put him in that situation. There was nobody to blame but me for that one.

We will continue to disagree on this point. However, I've listened to the tapes and I still feel, 25 years later, that it was consistently one of the best programs on radio. And far superior to most of what I hear today.
