You actually used the words "credibility" and anchor in the same sentence! Frank Blair and others used to do live reads all the time on NBC's Monitor and you never believed that he was actually endorsing the product or service.
I'm not for using "newsies" to do commercials, or anything even remotely similar, but to think that the average listener either cares or "picks up" on such is rather naive.
