Dale,
What was the real reason for Howards dismissal? The TV and newspaper reports indicated that the bit was the reason for Howards termination. The reports indicated that Mr. Tinker heard the bit and stated "This is not the type of show we want to air on the flagship station of the NBC Radio Network. In fact, I attended a live show that Howard and the other members of his show did at the Ritz Ballroom a few weeks later and Howard told the crowd the same reason. I believe he was about to be hired by Infinity Broadcasting (K-Rock).
I was a long time listener to 66 WNBC-AM Radio. I listened to the station back when Wolfman Jack actually worked there, LOL!!! I even was a listener when Cousin Brucie worked there. After Imus was fired, I was the biggest PEST to Bob Pittman. I wrote to him and called him on numerous occasions imploring him to bring back Imus and end the revolving door of unsuccessful morning shows: Ellie Dylan, Brink and Belzer, etc. It took a while but the Imus fans helped him get back on 66 WNBC-AM Radio.
Are you working in NYC radio at the present time??? If not, you should be since you were BATTLE TESTED on so many occasions!!! A smart GM would hire you!!!
