The Villiage Voice ad was planned as a publicity stunt. But substituting for Jonathan was also just a 2 week try out for me. Because of my work in Philly and on WPLJ I had gotten a reputation as a political activist and so there was some concern among the Metromedia big wigs about hiring me. Although WNEW-FM was certainley anti war and left leaning, it was wisely far more subtle in it's politics than WPLJ had been. The 2 week fill in stint was Scott Muni's idea as a way to show the bosses that I could "behave myself". I've been forever grateful that I "passed the audtion". Following the 2 week fill in I was given a contract to do the morning show.
