Unless you consider it an essentially no-pay "internship", why would anyone take a radio job for $8 an hour, if that's what they're really paying. That's a few pennies above minimum wage. If your choice is McDonald's or radio, I'd obviously choose radio, but this is not a wage that anyone could possibly live on and corporations who pay these kinds of wages should be ashamed of themselves.

The monthly Long Island Railroad fare is $300 a month. Even if the station is willing to pay for 40 hours a week and not just airtime, commuting alone is eating 22.5% of gross pay. That's what housing is supposed to cost, not commuting.

They are turning America into a third-world country.
