Two things John,
First, are you sure WBAB hasn't made a profit for the last 10 years? Even before the economic downturn, this station that delivers great adult male numbers in Market #19 hasn't delivered a profit since the late 90s?
Second, I'm all in favor of local stations doing local election coverage... but I don't think it fits on a Classic Rock station. WALK should do it, K-Joy should do it but I don't think it makes much sense between the Van Halen and Pink Floyd songs on WBAB.
Classic Rock listeners SHOULD care about local elections. They're probably parents and homeowners. I know you were just using WBAB as an example. But the psychology of Classic Rock is that the listeners are still young, carefree and as the slogan goes on WBAB, "show the world they still love rock and roll."
