SPECIAL NOTES: "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" by
Napoleon XIV (on the Warner Brothers label) generated massive
amounts of protest in New York and elsewhere. The protests mostly
came from the mental health community. Both New York Top 40
stations (WABC and WMCA) banned the song. WABC continued to list
the song as it declined on the survey, and its position was noted
on the air during Cousin Brucie's Top 20 countdown on Tuesday
evenings, but it never again received airplay.

WABC's Beatle ban was completely lifted this week, with the
addition of "Yellow Submarine" to the survey (a late add at #13).
The total ban lasted for a week (2 August - 9 August 1966), with a
partial ban extending for another week (9 August - 16 August
1966). The ban came about as a result of a John Lennon quote
where he allegedly said that the Beatles were more popular than
Jesus Christ (most now agree the statement was taken out of
context).
